At the 2017 Presentation Day for his beloved home Club of Umina Beach, long serving Zone and District Official, Wal Rainbow was presented with his life membership of Bowls Central Coast. Wal has been a dedicated Bowls Administrator at District and Zone level for over 30 years. Credited as the man behind the Central Coast District Bowling Association becomming a Zone, Wal is also the man responsible for introducing personal grading to our state pennants competition.
During his term as District President from 1991 to 1994 Wal initiated the prestige ‘Bowler of the Year’ award and it is fitting that a perpetual shield in his name is presented annually to the Zone’s most outstanding bowler. Wal with his good friend the late Edgar Wood, was a Parton of Zone 15 from 1997 to 2009.
