Central Coast U18s Win Metrop Shield

In a magnificent effort the Bowls Central Coast Under 18 Side were victorious in the Under 18 Metropolitan Shield played today (28/2/2021)at Wyong Bowling Club.   Playing against sides from Greater Western Sydney, the Illawarra and Central and Southern Sydney, it was the Coasties that prevailed.  This follows the equally magnificent win by the Under 25 Side in the U25 metropolitan Series with a Side that contained 6 U18 players in the Side of 9 players.

The Central Coast Side was:
Team 1 Sam Griffiths (Terrigal), Josh Smith (Munmorah United), Blayne Cook (Mingara) and Bailey Meti (Ettalong Mem)
Team 2 Luke Burton (Terrigal), Billy Waite (Mingara), Reegan Peterson (Toukley Dist) and Brendan Stokes (Ettalong Mem)
Team 3 Zane Archer (Terrigal), Olivia Crane (Munmorah United), Chelsea McKay (Bateau Bay) and Brandon Willmette (Gosford City)

The event was decided with a last match showdown between the undefeated sides of Central Coast and the powerful Illawarra Side who have won the great majority of these events in the past.  The Central Coast Side won convincingly with two rink wins and drew the other.   It was most noticeable that the Central Coast Side won their ends with outstanding front end bowling by the leads and 2nds that lay a great foundation for the 3rds and Skips.  Central Coast has only competed in three of these events and has now won two of them.

Particular congratulations to U18 Bowls Coordinator John Roberts without forgetting the great groundwork done by the previous Bowls Coordinator, Paul Wesche.
