BCC wins back the Michael Schwarcz Shield

On Sunday 28th March 2021,  the BCC Open and Senior Representative sides were successful in winning back the Michael Schwarcz Shield at Northmead Sports.  However, Zone 10 could not find the shield, so I provide the photo above of the last time we won it with yours truly being presented the trophy by now President of Zone 10 Mark (Scruffy) Barton.  The Open Side was:

Lee Trethowan's team won 19-18, Mark Wheatley's team won 24-13 playing against a four that included Darren Morrison BCC's 2020 Open Bowler of the Year who now plays with Merrylands.   However losses were recorded by Rod Rewko's team 15-29 and James Cook's four 15-17.  An over all loss for the Open Side by 4 shots.

The Seniors game also resulted in a 2 rinks all score, but a massive win by Tony Shoebridge's four 39-11 had a major influence on the result.    John Robert's team lost 15-19, Phil Westcott's team lost 17-23 but Kevin Bowcock's team won 25-18.  A total win by 25 shots which also ensured that Zone 15 win the Michael Schwarcz Shield 4 rinks all and by 21 shots.

The day was invaluable for the Selectors and wonderful practice for the players particularly as the Seniors game against Zones 2 and 6 had to be cancelled due to the weather.
