At a special presentation at Bateau Bay BC immediately prior to the Club singles final, Chayne Edwards was finally presented with the Wal Rainbow Shield as the 2021 Open Bowler of the Year. The Shield was presented to Chayne by BCC Director and 2022 Presidential nominee, Brian Emms.
Chayne won the prestigious title by winning the 2021 Open Pairs and 2021 Open Fours. He was also runner-up in the Champion of Club Champion Singles and a semi-finalist in the 2021 Open Singles Championships. Chayne finished 10 points ahead of Peter McCarten who partnered him in the Pairs and Fours and won the Senior Triples.
Being presented with the Wal Rainbow Shield did not phase Chayne as he then went onto the green to win his Club's Open Singles final defeating Graeme O'Donell.
