But the Terrigal team of Jeff Watson, Sam Chapman and James Cook rallied to win the next six ends to get within one shot at 16-17 and it was “Game on!”
To Hali’s credit they regrouped and skipped away to a seemingly match winning lead of 23-16 with just two ends remaining but Terrigal scored a two and three to narrow the final margin to 23-21 in favour of Halekulani.
It was a top quality final marred by difficult and tricky wind conditions that had the players constantly searching for their line.
The final of the Presidents Reserve Triples, for those pennant players Grade 5 and below, was played on an adjacent green with the Umina Beach team of John Hall, Dave Derrick and Lee Cribbs running out winners over Mingara’s Barry Pike, Tom Townsend and Bruce Smith.
